<br><br>This set of two CD’s presents a selection from Bartók’s varied piano oeuvre. It is a combination of performances by pianists András Schiff and Zoltán Kocsis as well as historical recordings of the composer himself. <br /> <br /> Schiff and Kocsis mainly play music based on folk music, such as the ‘Three Hungarian folk tunes’ and the well-known Rumanian Folkdances. Bartók plays a selection of pieces from the last three volumes of his six-volume Mikrokosmos.<br /> <br /> Other information:<br /> - A rare opportunity to hear Bartók play his own compositions.<br /> - Recordings of Bartók made in London and New York in 1937 and 1940 respectively.<br />
