<p>Somewhat unusually for a pianist-composer of his calibre, Taneyev wrote few works for that instrument alone, although each establishes its own memorable mood. The <i>Violin Sonata</i>, subtitled ‘Of medium difficulty', belongs to his mature compositional period and is notable for its blend of technical virtuosity and meditative inwardness. The <i>Theme and Variations </i>pays tribute to Taneyev's teacher and colleague Tchaikovsky. Several of the solo piano pieces here receive their world première recordings.</p>Eser Listesi
