He renders the brilliant solo part with a thorough knowledge of all its specific traits, in terms of technique and expression alike. Matoušek´s talent shines on in the following tracks, presenting Martinů´s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 1. Its demanding solo part offers him ample opportunities for deploying his superb artistic qualities to the full. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra delivers a concentrated performance under Hogwood´s direction, showing the ideal degree of empathy with the soloist´s work.
